Hi, I'm Leonie, the very lucky girl to have met and married, Terry Barker. Terry and I met at University in 1988, married in 1994 and had our amazing sons, Arran in 1996, and Lachlan in 2000. Throughout our time together, Terry kept singing and now his musical legacy lives on in his boys who will be performing at the tribute concert in October. Terry was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic melanoma in April 2012. He fought his cancer diagnosis with quiet determination and humility. Together, we fought hard to continue to have the opportunity to share many more memorable moments as a family. Terry made me a better person, his cancer a stronger person. We continue to fight for him now; to love, honour and protect. We support the Melanoma Institute Australia to raise funds for more ground breaking research, that will one day, prevent other families from having to endure the pain of the loss of someone irreplacable.

I am a Perth based GP (Family Doctor) and musician, located in Bassendean, Western Australia. Originally a 'Ten-Pound Pom" migrant, I came here by boat from famous Liverpool (twin brother Gary and I were even born '57 in the same Maternity Hospital as Paul McCartney) in the mid 1960s. I cannot begin to tell you how seminal being surrounded by Merseybeat was in my musical career.
Imbued with a love of music through my mum, Marjorie, I began teaching myself guitar at 15 and in 1975 at 17 began studying Medicine at the University of Western Australia. Balancing two careers and two passions has never been easy but where there is the will,.....!
I played professionally solo, duos, trios and in bands throughout medical school and from 1979 to Feb 1981 played in one of Perth's most popular cover bands, Tuxedo Wave. This band got us all out of the garage and we could play anything from Elvis Costello to The Angels, from Pink Floyd to Alan Parsons Project with staggering accuracy, thanks to astonishingly talented brothers Peter (drums) and Jamie (guitar) Harries, their schoolmate, Nick Netis, bassist and musical genius, and Gary, my identical twin brother Gary on Keys/Guitar and later Sax.
After graduating, completing residency, Gary and I wrote several albums worth of material, subsequently signing to recording and publishing companies, later forming our own touring and recording band, Mirror Men, with John Greenfield on bass/keyboards and the awesome Duncan Taylor on drums. Gary and I ran a recording studio from 1987-1991 in Sydney and gigged as a high tech duo Hunter's Moon, returning to Perth 1992.
The next musical incarnation was 2004 on as Baby Boomer's a largely British Pop (60s/70s/80s) orientated band which has now morphed into the band behind this great tribute event for Terry Barker, our dear fallen Colleague. So proud to do this for Leonie, Terry & the boys.

Began playing music in the 1970’s whilst in UWA Medical School [with twin brother Steve and Duncan Taylor ]. He spent 2 years in popular and versatile Perth band Tuxedo Wave 1979-81 and later guested with Formula 1/The Motors in 1983/84. After graduating , Gary and Steve continued writing original work and teamed to form Mirrormen [with Duncan Taylor on drums and bassplayer/songwriter John Greenfield ] and were signed in 1986 to Powderworks/BMG Music releasing “Longest Day” in 1987 with modest success. In 1988, “Hunter’s Moon” were finalists in the 1988 Yamaha International Original Song competition appearing live at The Billboard in Melbourne, the finals being broadcast live nationwide on MTV. Since then Gary has written sporadic TV show soundtracks and documentary music incl. for Discovery channel with Robin Lumley [ex-Brand X with Phil Collins] and played live in Baby Boomers with Steve and Nick Netis. He works as a GP/mental health sub-specialist in Wanneroo, as his music income and pitiful royalties [with 5 kids to his name] would have him living in a caravan park.

Carol Netis
Treasurer & Administrator
I have a dual interest in healthcare promotion/research (particularly cancer and diabetes) and music. I have been in the healthcare industry for 33 years both as a registered nurse and in an IT role. I have a Bachelor degree in Business and Post Grad Diploma in Health IT. My musical background is in drumming. I played in cover bands in Perth in the early 1990s with Phil Bennett (Helicopters and The Love Bites fame). My link to Terry Barker goes back to the early 1980s - my mother and I used to be in the same ten pin bowling league with Terry. Also, it was through Terry that I met Nick, my husband, when I used to go and see the Motors/Formula 1 play at various venues around town. My other motivation for being involved in M4MOC is that my mother died from cancer 29 years ago at a very young age and I have a special interest in raising money for cancer research and awareness.

Formally trained as a pianist I was encouraged to join a band by my work mate Ian Walker (Lead Vocalist in several Perth Bands) after he played to me for the first time the Supertramp album “Crisis What Crisis”.
My first band was McLoud which was very successful playing all major West Australian city and country venues and also touring Australia with good reviews. The next and most successful band was The Motors – later becoming Formula One who also toured Australia and also performed in Singapore.
This was followed by a short period with heavy metal band Cougar and then Red Square, a very powerful and versatile rock band that was very successful in both Perth and Singapore. My career ended playing favourite songs with a bunch of popular Perth muso mates in a band called Clutch Cargo.
